Family RVing Magazine Wins Award
Published on: 07/09/2019
Cincinnati, Ohio — Family RVing magazine, the official publication of FMCA, the world’s largest not-for-profit association for RV owners, recently received recognition from Association Media and Publishing (AM&P). Family RVing earned an EXCEL Award for its 2018 publication redesign. The Family RVing staff worked with Bates Creative of Silver Spring, Maryland, to develop the new look for the monthly RV magazine.
Bates Creative is an award-winning agency in the Washington, D.C., area that specializes in brand building, as well as digital and print strategy, design, and development.
The design work Bates Creative did for FMCA included a new nameplate for the magazine, which had been known as Family Motor Coaching since its debut in February 1964. The change to Family RVing magazine helped signal the expansion of the FMCA RV club — formed in 1963 — to include all types of RVs — motorhomes, fifth-wheel travel trailers, conventional travel trailers, etc. Prior to a vote of the membership in December 2017, the focus was on motorized RVs, known as motorhomes.
AM&P is a membership organization that serves the needs of association, nonprofit, and alumni publishing teams. Each year a team of experts reviews entries in categories related to editorial, design, advertising and marketing, online publishing, and electronic newsletters. Winners were announced during the 39th annual EXCEL awards gala in June 2019 in Washington, D.C.
